Madre – the Patroness Handbag

Most of the spiders have four pairs of eyes. Each pair is responsible for a different perception. Jumping spiders (Salticidae) definitely have the best vision as shown by their huge round eyes particularly anterior median eyes.

Spiders inspire and terrify. For some disgusting, for others beautiful. They are deadly but also caring – female spider, mother caring like any other. Spiders inspire and terrify. For some disgusting, for others beautiful. They are deadly but also caring – female spider, mother attentive like any other. She carries the eggs with her in the silk egg-case – the cocoon, looks after them and protects. Some species carries their young, no longer eggs, around on the abdomens. I met spiders and their behaviour much earlier and this is our another meeting. This time I’m focusing on the cocoon. Drawings show my way of thinking and developing it. The similarity to carrying a child in the baby-wrap becomes do clear that the rule appears naturally: Baby Carrier. The design process no longer faces any obstacles. Along the way details are coming back so helpful in emphasising the whole project’s character: four pairs of, all spiders’ characteristic, hairy legs and the idea with the fingers holes resembling the spider’s eyes. The rigid body except the soft upper part with a zip sliding in both directions. Reinforced handles prevent from falling sideways. This handbag I called the Madre.
